Hi everyone! I hope all of you are having a great start in this brand new year 2019!
Here I’m to share with you my first sermon of the year at Trinity Christian Centre by Senior Pastor Dominic Yeo on the power of declaration and godly words we can speak to transform our lives in 2019.
In reality, facts should not determine our confession as negative facts and a lack of faith results in despair and unbelief. Instead, we should declare and speak words of affirmation – words that comfort, reassure, and ascertain ourselves and others.
In Matthew 8:5-10 – When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed, and in terrible suffering.” Jesus said to him, “I will go and heal him.” The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, “I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.”
Notice that there is power of the declared word.
The declared word has the power to create from nothing to something; The declared word has the power to transform; The declared word has the power to evict and break sickness and demonic strongholds.
1 Peter 4:11 – If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God.
Besides holding the position of the redeemed, our position of sonship as sons and daughters of God give us the right to claim and the right to represent Jesus. In Zechariah 2:8 – For this is what the Lord Almighty says: “After he has honored me and have sent me against the nations that have plundered you – for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eyes.”
Psalm 17:8 – Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings
We are clearly the apple of God’s eyes! God loves us so much (Ephesians 2:6 – And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.) and we are created in his image. (Ephesians 2:10 – For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.)
2 Corinthians 5:20 – We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
