Hello dearies! How’s my butter mushroom haircut?! I’m back to bangs for Christmas! A Christmas feast came early and here I’m sharing the love of tonight’s media food tasting at Burp Kitchen & Bar. This latest and newly opened outlet is at Tanjong Katong, relatively nearby the famous Ponggol Nasi Lemak Centre! Just in case you’re wondering, Burp Kitchen & Bar started its first outlet next to Bedok Reservoir and to date, it is still booming.

A relatively neat, woody themed chill out place for both food and drinks. The ambience is generally dark, and they play English pop music. One great point – NO GST & SERVICE CHARGE! Let’s zoom into what this cozy NEW place has to offer.

Bulgogi Kimchi Fries ($12 NETT)

This is a generous portion of mouth watering beef bulgogi that comes with kimchi and gochujang aioli. The beef is very thinly sliced. Tender and not too oily. A very good sharing dish and a total instagram worthy one.

Bacon Quesadillas ($9 NETT)

The bacon quesadilla came with a tortilla wrapping the chopped bacon and melted cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Taste this while it’s piping hot, so you can enjoy the pulling cheesy effect.

Tom Yum Chicken Mushroom Pasta ($14 NETT)

If you ask me, my favourite would be this extremely spicy tom yum chicken mushroom pasta. This looks totally gentle but the spice kicks in hard and deep. This dish consists of linguine, tom yum sauce, diced chicken and sauteed mushrooms. Unique combination that will please those who love great kicks of spices and the aftertaste.

Baja Fish Tacos (left) & Grilled Shrimp Tacos (right) ($12 NETT)

The baja fish tacos come with battered fish, apple slaw, salsa fresca and spicy mayo. The fish itself is well fried to crispy golden brown, tender, meaty and juicy, very much like a mini version of fish and chips. As for the grilled shrimp tacos, it consists of shrimps, apple slaw, salsa frescsa and garlic cilantro lime mayo. Tacos are perfect bites for a light dinner.

Crabby Patty Burger ($18 NETT)

This charcoal bun, breaded soft shell crab with salted egg yolk sauce is definitely a killer. Salted egg yolk sauce is like a bit hit now, as this sauce practically goes well with any food, especially so with fried food, burgers and cajun fries! This black colour bun that’s sprinkled with sesame seeds has all the fluffiness it takes to give you a soft, natural and easy bite. This crabby patty burger contains a complete and whole fried soft shell crab.

BBQ Pulled Pork Totchos  ($12 NETT)

The BBQ pulled pork totchos is another great and popular creation. The small, bite-sized hash browns are great on its own, but perfected with a twist of well seasoned sweet and juicy pork. This is a strong flavour though.

Honey Lime Paprika Wings ($12 NETT) & Spicy Buffalo Wings ($14 NETT)

The honey lime paprika wings are glazed with sweet and citrusy sauce, giving a refreshing taste which I find very apt for non spicy food lovers. On the contrary, I love the well glazed spicy buffalo wings sauce! The little bit of sprinkled grated peanuts and ranch sauce helped in taming the spiciness.

All in all, Burp Kitchen & Bar serves familiar westernized food with a tinge of special flavorings to make themselves stand out.

I believe you must be tempted and already drooling.

Go go go!
