1 Peter 2:9
“You’re a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
CHOSEN PEOPLE: Jesus chose us and saved us and forgave us for our sins. God chose us to be his people!
ROYAL PRIESTHOOD / THE CHURCH: The church is god’s holy priesthood and the new identity. Wherever you are, you can talk to God and worship him. You’re god’s royal priesthood just like how your parents are the royal priesthood at home. Parents have the priesty duty to lead their children to worship God.
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
A HOLY NATION: You’re a holy nation. You live a life of holiness. You will reflect the very nature and character of God. God says, “Be holy for I’m holy.” You and I are empowered to live a life to reflect God’s holiness. God says it is possible to live as one.
2 Peter 1: 3
“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.”
A PEOPLE BELONGING TO GOD: You belong to God. God says, “I am your God and you are my people.” This shows ownership of our lives! We are bought by the precious love of God and saved through his son, Jesus Christ. No matter how far you feel you’re away from God, he will never let you go. God is still there for you and he will never give up on you. He will continue to provide for you because we belong to him and we are his people.
Dear friends, we are here to declare the praises of God wherever we go and wherever God has placed us.
We need to be aware of our posture of worship towards our God. Are we behaving like the chosen people of God? Who are we? Do you want to be passive or passionate? We will be the most passionate people to worship him and we must come with the heart to worship God every weekend diligently.
We need to have an attitude of honor in coming to celebration weekend services on time. Keep calm and be on time! Let’s all have that spirit of honor. Ask yourself, who are we meeting when we come to service? We are meeting the king of kings, and the lord of lords. This is the value of honor and respect. Behave like children of God and a simple way is to not leave until the whole service is over.
We must be full of thankfulness and gratefulness for what God has done for us. Always be ready to offer him praise and worship.
